I’ll make this short as I can hardly type it’s cold in the bush this morning! I need a new recon 1 and I know you guys do make satin ones on a limited basis for a business in Canada that are hard for me to get... please make Satin finish Recon 1’s!!!
Thank you!

Grabbed 4 of the satin recons as soon as i found out they made them, awesome knife, i'd been waiting so long for the satin ones. Hope they start offering them in satin or stonewash as standard.

I too prefer stonewashed, but satin would be great. I don't like stainless blades to be coated.

Agreed! DLC is not cheap, yet most would gladly pay the same price (or even more) for an uncoated model. In fact, they should offer ALL their knives uncoated! The 3V tantos and Tai Pan uncoated might take sales from the VG-10 San Mai versions. but for the most part, they would sell more knives and make more profit.

Im actually glad that they switched to DLC coating, the old teflon one is too cheap. They should do it for the lockbar as well, because they are still using the cheap teflon coating on these parts.
I personally like their DLC coating, but i also agree that it's a no brainer to make non-coated version for all of their popular models. They are definitely leaving money on the table for not doing it.

I think they are too.

maybe of the the usa based dealers will do a run. the bigdrop place seems to do lots of cold steel runs already.

I'd prefer a xhp run myself, but I'll take what we can get and not complain....least too much.:)

Count me for a stonewashed Recon 1.

BTW, is Cold Steel DLC done differently from like ZT and Spyderco? The CS DLC looks shallower/lighter to me.

It’s more about surface finish behind the dlc coating. Dlc is very thin so it carries over the blade finish. Cold steel has satin finish beneath the coating hence it looks shiny while spyderco and zt has bead blasted finish hence making the coating appear matte.
