I've owned my JK Camp Knife for several years now, it's been used(abused) quite extensively. Whenever I want a super tough knife I turn to this blade. I received it for christmas(my bro got a matching knife) with my initials in it. Here is a short review doing some typical camp chores.

First I want to show you the size, paired up with a Randall 14. The camp knife is no small fella, measuring about 6.25 inches in length and almost 1.5" broad. 2nd pic shows my initials, my bros knife also has his punched in, which John did at no extra charge. Really personalizes the knife and gives it that special touch.

Here it is being used for batonning. This was a piece of seasoned wood with a big ole knot, it took some effort and finesse, but it lost, I won.

Small pile of wood, good for a little day trip fire to keep you company.

Here is a feather stick I made with it. I used the draw knife method. Not the best featherstick, but hey, I'm not perfect at everything. :p

Final test, carving notches, spear point and fishing spear. It did great for all these tasks and did very well making the fishing spear considering how small diameter the wood is and how thick the knife is. At first glance the knife handle appears that it might give hotspots while doing chores due to some edges not being knocked down, but I've never suffered any blisters from this knife. It's a very comfortable handle, fits in my hand just right.

All in all it's a great knife, begs to be put to use.

Thanks, Jeff. I've put it through the ringer the past few years, so I know it's a keeper.

Oh and btw everyone, after looking at the pic of my featherstick again, I see how pathetic it is. I'm going out to the forest tomorrow for more knife testing, will bring the Camp Knife along for some chopping and more feathers.

thanks for the review (and pics) machine. i like a good roach belly pattern.

Thanks guys, like I always say doing reviews is a great way to get off my butt into the woods. :D

Ya know I never thought about it, but I reckon the Camp Knife is a roach belly.

Here's a pic of my bros camp knife posed with my model 18 a couple years ago. He ended up getting drunk and falling in the creek, good times. :p

Great pick of my "WANT" list.
Two great knives.

Mykel> Can't wait to see pics of it. I'd love to get that bowie that's being sold in the exchange now, good price for such a nice package.

Protourist> Sure are bud, two blades I'd never give up.

ETA: Another pic of it paired up with my JK EDC, the little knife Mykel made me a kydex sheath for.

Thank you and you're welcome, mqqn.

You're right, JKs and Randalls look great together. My stubby framelock folder would be a great match with the Model 14 Attack.

ETA: Yep this is a winning combo. Look at me hijacking my own thread and turning it into a pic thread. :p

Finally went and got some chopping done. Not exactly the best chopper, but does well enough.

Did some more shavings, lit up easily like theyre supposed to.

Here's the balance point, right at the front finger groove.

Awesome! Almost all of my JK's are balanced like that - one of the things that make John's knives so loveable!

Not many of us have a JK Framelock - I remember the stubby one now that you post your picture - glad to see it being used.

Also noticed your Micarta Sebenza 21 laying there - way to put it to use!

best

Oh yeah, mqqn, I've used that stubby alot.

Check out the CRK forums if you wanna see that large sebbie being put to use. :D

ETA: It's actually a gabon ebony wood sebenza, only the fanciest for me. haha jk :p
