Well I have had one of Johns knives for about a month now and thought I would post up some pics and my thoughts.

I have not done anything considered hard use with this knife as I don't think it is really intended for heavy cutting tasks. I have used it to strip bark off some branches make some feather sticks and cut some small saplings from the fence line. Have also used it to dig out some Dandelions at the root. John's textured flats are very good for not showing scratching from digging in the dirt. This has been my use outdoors with it so far. I would have no problem seeing this knife excelling at being a good tackle box knife to have along when fishing cutting bait, line, you name it. Super easy clean up with the kydex sheath John made for it.

The Worker has also seen use in the kitchen as a paring style knife. Used to prepare chicken and pork chops for the grill. Cut up veggies etc. The zebrawood handles got a little mineral oil rubbed into them after being washed up. It darkened them up a bit and I like the way it turned with the oil. The O1 is starting to patina a bit as well. I thought about forcing one but I am going to let it form naturally with use and keep it wiped down with mineral oil when not in use.

Now on to where I think this little knife shines. The steel and the heat treat. Now, this is my first and only knife in O1, well any carbon steel for that matter. With the use I have put on the knife it held a very sharp edge for a looong time. I am not sure how long it would hold a working edge for but I am sure it would be surprising. The edge this steel takes is super fine, akin to Bucks 420HC or CS aus8a. The big plus for me is that Johns O1 takes this edge and holds it a good deal better than the 2 stainless steel. Just my opinion on that though.

Thanks for reading. This being my first ever review of sorts hopefully it is not boring for ya. Here are a few pics of the knife as of now.

That looks like a really comfortable handle...

Are you still planning on coming in September?

As of right now yes. I did however find out that the weekend of the 26th MIGHT be move in weekend for my son's school in Ohio. This is highly dependent of how fast the student loans are approved. I will let you know for sure if I can't make it when I find out. Until then yes, I plan on coming and looking forward to meeting you folks!

I love this thing and I am kicking myself that I didn't pursue it further. The mineral oil melted those scales really stand out!

Enjoy it Doc, I will be relegated to Loving my Canadian Belt Knife. ;)

Nice review, Doctor!
