Short Run of Themed Knives

In another venue, there's a discussion about having a line of themed or logo'd knives produced.

Probably a run of something like 200 or 300 pieces although, if there's enough interest, it could be more.

Has anyone here ever had a special limited run of Buck knives done for some outfit that wanted to provide a nice tool with the company or group logo on it, and which could hit a price point of somewhere in the $40-to-$80 range?

Heard of it being done?

Joe? You know anything on this subject?

I can't imagine it hasn't been done before. I'm just trying to get a feel for what a minimum run quantity might be, what kind of commitment is required, what kind of limitations there are (like maybe "must be laser etch" or maybe "handle engraving costs more" or the like).

It's just an idea that's being tossed around, and I'd like to have something to say besides "I have no idea" in the discussions.

Anyone?

Check all of the Special Product lists in the Newsletters. That will give an idea of what has been done and the run sizes.

Buck Knives has done this in many situations. Just off the top of my head, Hornade has a Vantage with there name on the black coated blade, Bond Arms has a Vantage with there name engraved in the red wood scales. There are hundreds of companies that have done awards for safety and such things. I have heard that Buck will do a run of knives but the minimum number is 500 units. I have seen several company logos on 303s and 301s. There out there and they can be a whole new area of collection. I once thought about collecting different shielded 300 series knives. There are so many out there.

As Matt says, They are not Buck uncommon,

This is the most typical method, simple printing on the blade. Some steel wool and elbow grease and it can come off.

I am sorry I can't tell you how many 300s you would have to order to have a logo printed or stamped. But when I win lottery there will be a special run of two blade 300Bucks specials.

Here is a different way but again not uncommon. Sorry for the picture, I was in a rush and again I'm no 300BUCKS in the picture taking business...

Matt, I got a laugh out of that one, I spent 20 minutes looking for my photo of the same and gave up. Glad you knew where yours was.
Now the important question, have you ever discovered the company that emblem stands for ? 300Bucks

yes it is the logo for Brown and Root inc

i worked for them as start up and test and or high voltage testing at nuclear plants
for a quite a few years and have a award pin with that on it ..
at the one plant in texas they gave out 110's for safty award for xmillion no lost time accdents
might still have mine... dont know .. never seen that slippy before though

as to themed knives
the mim order i belive is 200 knives
at one time it was less

i had thought to see of intrest here to order Buck Friends Forever on some knives but
as to what the handle would be came into play ..
most would buy a wood one but some wanted stag
you know the usal disagreements as to what was best...

I don't know what the current minimum is but it is different or was different if you were a business or an organization. Fifty pieces have been done for knife clubs and good customers of Buck. One note of caution. Most of the knives above were probably done by third parties and their minimums would be different from what Buck uses or are most likely different from Buck's.

I'm not exactly sure what you are saying. It reads as though you are under the impression that the knives above are not Buck brand knives? All the knives shown above are made by Buck with shields and or logos of other companies. Some are made by Camillus for Buck but I would imagine that the order would have been placed with Buck Knives.

Dave send me a PM and I will send one of these 303s to you, sense you worked at the company. I found 3 of these at the Smoky Mountain Knife Works last year while I was on Vacation. They were old and different so I grabbed all three that they had. Its cool that you get to see a logo from a company you worked at on a knife brand you love...

All are Buck produced knives but the modifications(etching, LASER cutting, etc. of names and logos) were done by third parties after the standard knives left the plant. In the case of the knives above most were modified by others(third parties) not Buck. Buck will modify knives as you see above but the Buck minimum quantities will probably not be the same as the third party knives. Sorry for the confusion.
