Alright so I have 2 bucklites. on in really good shape an the other had a broken tip. I should have taken before pictures but I had access to a grinder and I added a new tip by grinding down on the back of the blade and shortening it a bit. here it is

a normal bucklite

The blade to handle ratio is kinda out of whack but I like it

1) grind down the back 2) bring the belly up to meet the back 3) something of both . I would have created more belly by option 2 . Just more my flavor . How was the tip broken ? DM

I thought about doing that some of the tip would have stuck out from the handle if I'd have done that so I couldnt really do it without risking getting myself bit

it was a friends, he bent the tip and tried to bend it back with pliers and the tip broke off so rather than have a broken tip he gave it to me and bought a newer 110

Nice salvage job. Bucklite has been one of my favorite working pocket knives ["working" used loosely..I'm retired 12 years].

Your post prompted me to go dug one out for an out of state traveling blade..got to leave the autos at home..and I may want to do some whittlin' or other cuttin' with the relatives.

I like your method to retipping the blade. Unlike Dan, I prefer less belly. I would have done exactly what you did except inline on a wheel so it still had the lovely upswept look to the tip. All the same, good job.

Thats actually the reason I decided to fix the knife I needed a knife to whittle large pieces away and didnt wanna use my edc

I thought about for probably like 30 seconds before I did it but again, I didnt want the blade to have a tip sticking out and I wanted a wharncliffe LIKE blade but not a full one so I drew on the blade, liked this the most and just went at it. next time I'll put more thought into it but I'm pretty happy with the results since this was the first time I did something like this

a little after thought. the guy that gave it to me had completely rounded the edge by trying to "sharpen" it so im excited to try a fix that too
