i'm pretty ok with the sheath the 16s came with (although i've got kydex coming for the FPR). But it's a little long for the knife, so i figured i'd mess about with the soon-to-be extra sheath.
I likes it. Smaller, still a good front pocket.
-cut off the bottom right above the stitch line.
-that also cut off the plastic tab that held the liner in place. slid that out, measured and cut off the bottom to fit the 16s length a little closer (i'm guessing it's prob perfect length for the 15 originally?).
-cut off the inside tab/loop.
-cut the remaining (lower front) nylon loop at the inside attachment point so it became a long flap of nylon (more on that later).
-sewed the end shut with thread.
-cut the very bottom outside edges at an angle (and waved the lighter there, too), so it wouldn't be a sharp point poking out on each side on bottom.
-then folded it over and sewed those two outside edges down so they layed flat
-cut a hole in that nylon strap i made from the bottom nylon loop, to fit over where the button on the molle strap buttons down. waved a lighter at it so it wouldn't fray on me.
-buttoned down the molle strap to hold it in place along with my sewing-job on the corners.
here it is compared to the stock version. still has a good pocket, couple inches shorter overall.
easy and works well if the length of the stock sheath bugs you at all. or if you're bored....
