i have a 3/16 stainless pivot that id like to shorten.
i may or may not have access to a mill, but wonder what hardened stainless would do to my friend's bits.
i was thinking i could take a piece of metal shorter than the desired final dimension, drill and ream it, insert the pivot and clamp it to the bench and file it down with an old file. clean up the threads later.
anyone done something like this? is there a better way?
