Shorter blade flippers VS longer blade flippers

So i have two Kershaw chills and im thinking of chopping one down into a mini flipper. Problem is that I don't know whether a shorter blade will flip better than a longer one or vice versa. I'd like to know so i know which one to leave the better detent with. Any info is greatly appreciated!

A shorter blade should flip faster, since it's basically a pendulum, and a shorter pendulum swings faster regardless of weight.

I will concur with manowar669. With a shorter moment arm, the amount of force required to reach the necessary inertia for flipping completely open would decrease, thus making it easier and faster to flip.

Please let us know how your project goes! I would love to see the results.

I'd like to see the results, too. A Mini-Chill would be cool. However, a shorter blade is a lighter blade, and I believe it would be harder to flip. Compare a large and small Buck Vantage. I can flip either one, but the smaller one can be a little trickier.

I don't think it's as simple as shorter/lighter faster, I think momentum has something to do with it, and I have been told by several makers that finding the proper blade balance is a key to making a good flipper. Having said that, two of my best flippers, in terms of overcoming the detent and being assured a full blade deployment, smooth and reliable, are two of my longest bladed flippers. On the other hand I have a ZT 200 which many claim to be one of the best flippers out there, and (much due to the weak detent IMO) and it won't flip for s@#$. I guess I'd be interested in your results also, I think my advice would be to go slowly.
