Shot dead by 'Wild Bill'

This is by far one of the more interesting pieces of news I've seen in the local paper for a long time. The gist of the article is that we had a local Sheriff shot and killed by none other than Wild Bill Hickok back in 1861.

Well, it's current in a way as the information is just now coming to light. It stayed largely unknown until now.

I can see why they called him "Wild Bill". It sounds like everyone out there was wild.

Wild Bill chose that nickname for himself. He had protruding lips and was given the nickname "Duckbill." When he got older, he grew a mustache to hide his lips, and changed his nickname to something more flattering.
