Wondering if any members of the forums here are planning to attend the 2007 Shot Show in Orlando, FL (Jan 11-14) ?

This is a trade show and not open to the general public, but I'm sure many here will be attending.

I live in the Clearwater area on the west coast here so for me its only a
45-50min ride, looking forward to checking out all the new products which will be coming out for the new year.:D

From the Shot Show website;

ATTENDANCE RULES
SHOT IS FOR THE TRADE ONLY AND IS NOT OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC

Attendance is restricted to trade members only. Children under age 16 (including infants) prohibited.

I will be there covering the show for our annual Equipped To Survive Shot Show Report, as well as for other reasons that will become apparent in a week or so.

Some of the manufacturers have already provided a peek at their new offerings and while I can't say anything specific or name the manufacturers, I can say this has all appearances of being a very good show if you love sharp things.

This is my first time going. I've been engaged to cover the show by Prorez, the largest knife magazine in Russia (don't laugh, their circulation exceeds Blade). Anyway, since this my first time going, I'd appreciate any tips anyone can offer. I know it's a huge show.

Make appointments and try to work the show from one end to the other. Dashing back and forth will drain you. Budget your time or you'll never get to everyone you need to see. The floor plan is online. Wear your most comfortable walking shoes/boots. Don't try to carry a shoulder bag or briefcase (too small and too heavy when full), either have a good backpack or bring a cart/rollerboard/rolling computer case (what I do) to carry all the brochures, etc. If you are on a budget, bring your own food and drink. If you are taking photos, bring some good backgrounds. Stay hydrated. Plan on being totally and completely exhausted by time it's over. Did I mention staying hydrated. :)

Probably the most important thing for those attending is:
1. Locate the Case Knives booth.
2. Take a picture of the new 2007 Tony Bose/Case collaboration slip-joint knife.
3. Post the picture in the Traditional Knife sub-forum here at BFC immediately.

Thank you, thank you very much. :D

My suggestion is to spend some time when you get there and read the SHOT Show Directory and Buyer's Guide when you receive it at registration check-in.

If you haven't done so in already based on their online info, checkout the list of exhibitors and make up you list of 'Top 20 Must See' exhibitors, locate them on the enclosed floorplan map and visit them by section/area. That way you are ensure of not missing any of the 'must see' vendors.

The show is HUGE and you don't want to waste time walking up and down every aisle until you have seen at least your top 10 or 20 (or 100) vendors first. You'd hate to miss some really cool cutlery, while burning up time going through all the deer urine lure, duck decoys, or electric socks vendors, unless they are on your must see list... ;)

Bring your own drinks and snacks. A rolling cart or suitcase for the tons of brochures you'll be picking up is definitely the way to go. You will quickly lose feelings in you fingers hauling around several pounds of brochures in those free plastic bags... :D

I'll be there.

P.S. If you will attending the last day of the show, some exhibitors are willing to sell their display samples to trade show attendees at some very decent prices (cash and carry basis) and that includes knives... Unfortunately, I have to catch an early flight back that morning...
