Anyone seen anything new sharpening related at Shot Show? (In person or online). Saw this video today on some items from DMT...

... wondered if there was anything else?

Venev Bonded diamond stones. Not at Shot show but they are relatively new. They have stones for most of the guided systems and a few sizes of bench stones. They just released a lansky set too. Better than dmt etc because they are bonded stones and not diamonds sitting on the surface.

I Recommend giving them a try.

The pull through one where you can adjust the edge angle looked interesting. Doubt I'd use it, but if it turns out to do a good job of creating a consistent toothy edge, and if you can adjust the angle low enough, this might be the holy grail of pull through sharpeners for folks who won't invest the effort and $$ for better sharpening options.

What I don’t like pull through V is the fact that if you have a knife with bolster you can’t reach the very heel on the stone because of the plastics finishment around the stones.
Another reason is (I’ll try explain)...
One stone is in front of other. If the right stone is after the left one you always will loose sharpening area on right side of blade. Doesn’t matter if you turn the jig.
Im wrong?

I'm not defending, or advocating for, pull through sharpeners. I'd be the last person to do that. Have gone hardcore freehand and don't even own a powered sharpener at this point, although I may break down eventually and buy a belt grinder to speed up full blade regrinds. :-)

But it's reality that most people are not going to learn to sharpen by hand or use a nicer guided system like those of us here at BF do. Given that, what is an affordable, easy to use device, that gets pretty good sharpening results? Honestly, I don't know of one I'd recommend to anybody today, Sharpmaker is about the lowest-end guided device I could seriously recommend. But if somebody can come up with a decent pull through device that creates a pretty good edge, uses high quality and replaceable abrasives (the DMT does that), and lets you set the edge angle (DMT does that), it might be a legit option for such folks.

Ops. Sorry if sound rude. You are right. For general public it really is a amazing tool. Easy, practical and fast.
Of course there are public for a lot of kind of sharpener. I was just giving my opinion and asking if I was wrong cuz maybe there is some way I do not know how to solve these issues.

Sorry again if sound rude.

^No worries, didn't take it that way. :-) Just wanted to clarify that point about the role of pull-through or similar sharpeners that many of us here at BF, including me, tend to scorn using and wouldn't use for ourselves. It's worth noting that the majority of the knife owning world out there is not ever going to get into serious sharpening like we do, we are the proverbial "1%" crowd in the sense of how seriously we take sharpening. For everyone else, including my extended family members and friends who won't make the effort to learn to freehand or even a simple guided system like Sharpmaker--I'm always sort of keeping my eyes open for something that does a pretty decent job, is easy to use, and costs well under $100, preferably under $50. Have not ever found anything I could recommend up to this point. Something like this DMT, or that clever pull-thru that some guy designed and we had a big thread about here in the forum recently, these things would have potential to fill the gap and improve sharpening results for such folks. The DMT in particular, because it has adjustable angles, uses diamond abrasives, and they are replaceable, sounds potentially interesting. But I'm gonna guess that you can't adjust the edge angle very low, as with most guided sharpeners. Be interesting to learn more details about it though.

I like the DMT stones because they are wider, on their sharpening system, than the Lansky system. It gives me more control. I have both systems.
