I expect people to show up with videos pretty soon. In the meantime, I was searching the Youtubes before I finished my coffee, and I found a few knives to actually be excited about.

Just some screengrabs; I'm happy to have new knives to try and justify, but this isn't going to be a fancy presentation.

The Benchmade Mini-Bugout. Right at my blade-size-sweet-spot, and under my price limit. I like the orange.

The 4-Max Scout. I'll have a very hard time talking myself out of this.

The Lundquist/WE Black Void.

I might or might not be guilty of being "edgy", myself. What's not to like?

Lundquist also worked with WE on a version of an OSS lapel dagger, but I can't find any stills. We all know that the guy with the smallest knife is actually the most Oper8tor, so this is the perfect pairing.

Finally for now, there's the Kershaw Culpepper.

I'm not as enthusiastic about this one. It's a modern traditional, which is my new thing. The price is hard to beat, and Kershaw gets the most out of the alphabet steels. I like it, just not enough to say it's a "must have".

I've been watching the video by KnifeCenter at SHOT with Eric Glesser. Some pretty good looking new knives coming from Spyderco imho. :)

Spyderco's quality control should be an industry standard.

I tried a Calypso Clipit years ago, and later on, a Crow and a Cara-Cara (from the Byrd line).

The Caly feels like quality, so much so that my wife kept it. She never uses it, but it's still around.

I have enormous trouble with lateral control in long cuts, which may explain my difficulty with freehand sharpening, too, now I think about it. What it does for sure, is scare the bejeebers out of me that I'm going to snap the tip off a Spyderco. I understand they're tougher than you think, and a knife is meant for cutting, yes, yes, yes. I just like a little but more of a "knuckle-dragger" personality to my knives.

I've already preordered a mini orange 533 Bugout so definitely excited about that one.

Other than that, quite a few Spyderco models I'm also interested to check out.

That Black Void Opus, the one with the regular, not black blade, is one heck of a sleek looker. Front flipper looking that good? Man but WE are offering some nice stuff right now.

I didn't know there was a non-coated version. I like it.

(I still like the all-black version better).

Maybe down the road, it would be good to see them offer different colors for the pivot and clip screws. I'm thinking a real deep blue, a bronze, and a very rich red. Like, cherry pie candy, red.

Some other options for the inlay would also change the look of the knife. I think WE could make a good profit from just throwing a whole truckload of inlay color options out there, and letting people choose. Maybe it's a little much to expect to be able to order separate slabs so you can mix and match to taste, but I think it's realistic for them to set up something like what Benchmade does with their configurator tool: customize your Void online, and if you get as far as entering your credit card information, there is a little extra cost, and a longer wait, since they make them to-order.

Good stuff from Spyderco and Benchmade but what has really caught my attention is the à announcement of the Tanto PM2

The Kershaw looks interesting for $25 but I would rather pay more for it to be made in the USA with a carbon steel blade.

I'm eager to learn what was the new Hinderer they were hinting about at the end of the BHQ video?
