SHOT Show Day 3 Photos

These look to be the yet to be released Kershaw Zero Tolerance knives. The design is a joint effort between Ken Onion and Strider.

The fixed blade looks interesting, but the folders seem to meld the Strider and Onion design flavors into something very meh. Not bulky and edgy, not sinuous and curvy. I don't know if I could choose 2 design philosophies to mix together in a worse way.

Vassili, the photo's on the left are indeed the Zero Tolerance Onion/Strider folder. This piece is done in S30V, and it is a titanium frame lock w/textured G-10 scales in either coyote brown, ranger green, or black. It is an assisted opener with a flipper. It's a mean knife, and has drawn the most attention in the ZT line up.

hardheart, Ken, Mick, and Duane have always wanted to do a knife or two together, and I and many others feel the piece translates quite well. They seemed very pleased also, if that means anything. All parties involved were also interested in doing the project, as they felt strongly with working in conjunction with the PVA (Paralyzed Veterans Association). Proceeds from the sale of this and other ZT knives go to assist this incredible organization.
The knife is quite a handful, and incorporates some of both Ken and Striders talents. Hopefully in the future you will have a chance to handle the piece personally, and it will change your initial distaste for the knife. Sometimes pictures can be deceiving. I've learned over the years that with knives, you have to handle them prior to passing judgement. I'm sure there will be some first hand reactions to this knife in the upcoming days.

The fixed blade is made from 3V (first production knife done in this steel as far as I know), and has 3-D machined G-10 scales. It also has a slick rig to sleep in.

On a side note, the show has been very well attended, and has been a real sweet experience. It all ends Sunday, and were back to regular biz Monday morning. Sorry for no more spec's and delivery for you Vass, it's too late to get into that tonight.

Kershaw Knives

Seems that I recall that the FB is all Onion/Kershaw. There are two sizes. I got to handle a pair of them at Blade, and they felt really good.

I'll reserve judgment on the folders, but they do sort of look like a Marvin Gaye/Snoop Dog mix.

I get pretty excited about everything Kershaw has been putting out these days. I'm especially excited about the polished G10/S30V Leek. I'm just concerned that I'll miss out on these limited quantity polished handle offerings.

Probably not on the pictured folders, the ZT has a blade profile I personally don't like to use, but I do like the Spec/Speed Bump. I'm sure they'll all sell well, though.

3V production fixed blade?:) Also gonna keep an eye out on that, what's the coating?

jemelby, there is only one size in the FB. We did show to a select few, 2 sizes on the FB at Blade, but just went with the one.

hardheart, the FB will have a Black Diamond DLC coat.

As far as the freaky combination Strider/ZT Onion, with the state of our fragmented industry as it sits today, I think anytime that 2 companies can unite and come together to create high end products for LE and military personnel, and support groups like the PVA, we should all look at this as a positive step. The bigger picture here is much more important than how someone might perceive the looks of a knife. If it's all about just the looks of a knife, and not its substance, than we as a manufacturer have a long way to go in trying to create deeper thinkers, and getting our word out.
I was truly encouraged at the show, how people reacted to this project and what it stood for. Although its looks may not appeal to all, the ZT line, and this collaboration, represents the blood and sweat of many individuals that care about producing products that assist those who need them most.
I'm optimistic these words will do nothing more than make people realize there is a ton more that goes on beyond the finish product than one might realize, and there is much more than meets the eye. In this case it was making a knife line for all the right reasons.

Wow, now its way early, sorry for the rant.

Oh, no! I am totally love it! I am on Zero-Distance for that beauties. That green one pair on the left just gorgeus! It seems like it toke best - strength from Strider and elegance from Onion - in perfect balance. It is very elegant tank opener. I can not wait to get one! As well as that 3V fixed blade.

I know how it may look on well made picture.

Any info on when it will be available?

So label is ZT, now I see.

Thanks, Vassili.

I can certainly appreciate the efforts, and different strokes for different folks as far as designs go. I just take aesthetics into high consideration because there's a lot of quality cutlery being manufactured, so might as well go by looks when I'm confident it will perform. In this example, I'm looking to purchase a Spec Bump variant (steel choices), but not so much a ZT, because I know they both have Kershaw quality and sound design, and I just like the looks or 'feel' of the SB more.

DLC 3V... crap, there goes more of my money. Do you have length/thickness numbers handy? Thanks.

I think it is great to see these people and companies getting together on designs. It brings the design talents of all together to produce something that would not have been seen if not for the collaboration.

Thomas, is there a chance we will see any of these knives without a blade coating?

Is it just me or do I see an auto in that first pic. I think I'm going to like this new line and the fixed blade is on my must buy list.

blt, we neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed more knife pics. Forget the guns. This is bladeforums, not Glock Forums. ;)
