Shot Timers?

I might should have posted this in Prac/Tac and feel free to move if necessary, but I have a question on shot timers. I am looking for a good quality timer around $150. I have looked at the PACT and CED timers and I am wondering if their less expensive models allow you to set a time that counts down. (Using for example, you want to fire 2 rounds, reload, fire 2 more in lets say 4 seconds). It seems that you have to have the more expensive units to have this feature. Anybody own a timer that does this or have any info on the timers in question?
Thanks for any input.

We use PACT timers in our business. The least expensive model is perfectly fine even for our commerical usage.

To accomplish what you're looking for, might I suggest you just set the PAR time for 4 seconds. You press "GO" and it can activate instantly or with a random delay. Then once it beeps, you can shoot your two rounds, then execute a combat reload and continue to shoot two more.

The timer beeps at the set 4 seconds PAR Time (for example) but will continue to measure your overall time and your shot-to-shot time even after the PAR time has elapsed. If you beat the PAR time then you'll be done by the time the second, and longer beep rings out.

The PACT is easy to use, has an adequate display except it isn't backlight for night time training but most people don't train at night anyway. Buttons are easy to access and the battery last a good time.

What more could you ask for? Do you really need the added expense for the count-down feature?

Quirt,
Thanks for the info. I wondered if I could use the PACT par time feature like you stated. Now I know. I am probably going to purchase one of the less expensive models if I can find one in stock. Thanks again.

Shooting Chrony has a timer with par time. $104.95 from the web site. I haven't used one but I've been considering it. PACT makes good stuff, I've got a BBK electronic reloading scale that's great.

If it's just for your own casual use, you may consider a smartphone app. There are several for iPhone and doubtlessly some for other smartphones too. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than a "real" device.

Gollnick, great suggestion! I forgot I have a SHOT Timer on my iPhone. I've used it and it works "adequately" for causal training or practice.

Yes Red1962, I'm confident the PAR Time will work just fine for you.

Just remember these words from Wild Bill: "Fast is fine, but accuracy is final" now I hear it said "Yea, Fast is Fine but the JURY is final!"
