I've seen molle shotgun scabbards for sale at various places. Does anyone have any experience with them? I don't always like having a sling on my long guns and the scabbords look like a good alternative for those times when you just want to make time through the woods or you need your hands for a bit. Any kind of feedback would be appreciated.

maybe on horseback...QD swivels with slings make easy on/off. Scabbard seem like extra weight/gear to hump when a foot.

Many years ago I used to rig my slug gun to my day pack when rifle hunting and wanted both..probably couldn't describe it now but used pack carry loop as one attachment point..now talk about humping EXTRA weight..never used the slug gun when rifle hunting but I was ready.

I have a molle scabbard. It does not fit my remington very well. It is difficult to draw, impossible to put back in without taking the scabbard off, and all in all a waste of money. (Which is a shame because I really wanted to like it.) The Erblestock backpacks seem the best bet if you want to carry a longgun and not have it at the ready.

If I was going to go with a scabbard for my shotgun I think I would make one out of smooth plastic attached to my pack (ala Romancing the Stone).

I have one and it is difficult to draw fast, i use it for a beater mossberg 500 but not my 590. I use it more as a case than holster to keep it from getting dinged up when tossing it in a truck.
