Shotgun shell holder?

Looking for a non-permanent auxiliary shell holder that could be used on the stock of my 12ga 11-87. It won't live on the gun, but will sit in a BOB-type kit "just in case." I have tried the regular slip-on units like the Uncle Mikes but they are very unstable, so I'm thinking something more along the lines of the Specter brand unit ( LINK ). Any other suggestions? Obvious I hope this will never be needed but if it is, it MUST function; therefore a balance of quality/cost and economics is necessary...

You can probably improve the performance of those things with a liberal application of velcro.

Personally, I once saw a climber's chalk bag that would have made a great shell holder for your belt. I think the clay shooters have a lot of ammo pouches for the belt too.

I have a 6-round velcro side saddle from S&J Hardware, a Canadian company. Been very happy with it for more than two years. It gets a workout while I shoot in steel plate matches, the rest of the time, shells are stored in it on the same (HD) gun. The elastic shell loops are every bit as strong and snug as it was when new. I'm a big fan of these things.

As for the Velcro option, I personally have had no luck using this. I bought several shotgun card for my shotguns with the intent of mounting them to the receiver. I bought the industrial Velcro, cleaned the receivers with brake cleaner and alcohol, and applied the Velcro. After minimal use, the Velcro always starts to peel away from the receivers, and it becomes a process of trying to get it to stick. If it has this much trouble adhering to metal, I doubt it will be a viable option for a stock. Just my opinion though.
