Should a large Sebenza be easily flickable?

Hi All,

Maybe a dumb question but should a Large Sebenza be easily flickable? I'm used to my Benchmades that just fly open with very little thumb pressure. The Sebenza I have requires a considerable amount of pressure plus lots of wrist action. Normal or do I need to adjust something?

Opening is very smooth, just seems to have a lot of friction.

You could adjust the screw tension on the Sebenza ....Chris Reeve says the Sebenza is NOT designed for 'flicking' !!! Leave it alone !!

I didn't mean to imply that I would "hack it" to make it flickable, just curious if by design its supposed to be. Since its not I'm good with leaving it the way it is. :D

Mine is not flicable either. The Sebbie is designed to have no adjustment for blade tension, so you are "stuck" with the waythe knife opens. They do breakin a little, and with light lube (instead of the grease) they open pretty easy.

No they are not easily flickable. As to loosening the pivot the sebenza pivot uses a bushing and the pivot screw is meant to be fully tightened. If you loosen the pivot you will have blade play.

If flicking is an important "feature" to you I would suggest sticking with Benchmade or perhaps buying a assisted opener or flipper opener. Many different types are available from a host of companies.

use a less viscous lube.. that'll smooth it out... for me, I like the THICKEST lube for my sebs.. I like a little more resistance.

if you want a flickable crk, check out the umnumzaan. supposedly, these were built to hold up to flicking. i have never owned an umnumzaan, but sebbies are not made to be flicked.

i dont own one but i know its mean't not for flicking open cause it voids the warranty:grumpy:

Definately not by design, though all linerlock based knives (of which I consider the framelock) seem to lend themselves towards it. CRK does not advise flicking of any sort, as it leads to premature stop-pin flattening.

they arent easy to inertia open but ya can with practice.

probably not good to do it to them but i'm not obssesive/compuilsive about it and if you arent either a few times probably wouldnt hurt it, it hasnt hurt mine anyway lol.

its probably not good for any folder to be done like that a dozen times a day.
