My own laminate for the handle: Red, Orange, Yellow Burlap with ultra green glow dust. Glows pretty nicely. I had just enough scrap for a matching fire rod handle.

O-1 @ 59 with brass Corby bolts. This is my first time working with Corbys. I them alot... no mucking about with clamps. They seem much easier than regular pins.

The blade needs a bit more polish, then a sharpening and off for sale.

I may send it off for a sheath before all that.

Let me know what you think.

Hard to lose, so long as you see colors correctly :). I'm color deficient, so I don't see them right--I'd probably lose that right away if I dropped it in the grass :P. Looks like a good user though!

Looks Good Todd,
Congrats,
Jim

Thanks James, These are some of the first things from between the new plates I got from you. They work great!

I guess in your case, wait until after dark and look for the glow.

I don't have a tripod, so it is kinda hard to capture the glow well

Matching knives and firesteels seem to be the rage these days... why didn't I think of that? ;)

The scales could be rounded a bit more on the bottom side, but maybe that's just me. You already mentioned you're going to polish the blade a bit more, that's a good idea. Very nice overall!

I like the look of the knife, but to me the handle is more pink than red.

My flash seems to wash out the colors a bit...it is a bit darker than it looks. I have the same issue but worse with red canvas...it grinds light but polishes dark.

Thank you...I kept sanding until it was comfy. I'll use it bit to make sure and do some more if needed. I will do the final polish and sharpen when I have the sheath made up.

Seems to make sense to make a matching set, it is not the first one I have done and it won't be the last ;)
very nice looking set. Where do you get the firesteel?

Todd

Thanks! Tracey Mickley (USA knifemakers) has all sorts of sizes of them in stock:
