Should different colors warrant different prices?

For example maybe the black version of a knife is more popular than the yellow. If the costs are exactly the same, should they be sold at the same price if it's a production knife?

I can see how it makes sense to have different prices. So I don't know why this bugs me. I'm curious how others feel about it.

In a perfect world it would be nice to think that prices are set solely based on a company's costs and necessary profit margins.

In reality, I expect prices to be set by what the market is willing to pay for them. If people are way more into red, red will cost more.

It's supply and demand. Good example - the Morakniv basic 711 model is available in a wide assortment of colors. On Amazon, the prices seen to vary nearly every day. One day the red handle is $8. Shortly after, it's $10 but the OD green one dropped $2. New color combos are more expensive when first introduced, etc.

With online ordering, a vendor can spot trends in near-real-time and manipulate prices to stimulate buyers and maximize gross sales.

Not unusual, cars and guns being two examples of many.

That's what always bugged me about Victorinox. Why should a black Pioneer cost more that the standard color and why do other colors cost even more. It costs no more to anodize red than clear or black or blue or green!

I think the the biggest guess in colors other than common colors. How much will each color sell. How many do you make or stock. Have you noticed how it is easier to find popular knives in reds, blues, greens, etc.
Or.....do what BM does make knives in a color. Take it or leave it......

What's the most expensive knife colour? Is it a bunch of colours?

Working on a project.
