Should I be concerned with this mini commander lock-up?

It's way late, but solid. Should I have it fixed/replaced?

I've been using it to clean up after Hurricane Matthew.

I have a few Emersons that are like that. For me, the locks function without fail even when I put extra stress on them to see if the locks would disengage. I wouldn't worry about it unless the knife has vertical (up/down) blade play or if the lock consistently touches the opposite liner through unwaved opening.

One thing you could try before sending it in, is to rotate the blade stop pin 180 degrees or to disassemble the knife and recenter the blade. Sometimes after use, the body screws get a little loose and cause the liners to very slightly shift in position. This will change the blade centering and therefore also the lockup of the knife. I'm sure others will have some advice for you as well, but if you do not feel the knife is safe, send it in. You don't want any doubt in your mind about the integrity of your knife when you are using it.

My mini 7 has the same and is solid. I will eventually send it back but for now it's good

I'm confident in the knife based on your two experiences. I've got zero up-and-down blade play and I've never seen the liner go any deeper than the picture I posted, regardless of how I open it.

I may try your suggestion Harvey, taking it apart and recentering the blade.

I feel safe with the knife.

Not at all OM, it's got zero lateral play. The pivot is set such that I can't flip it out without significant wrist snap action. This particular knife has some serious washers in it, putting plenty of space between the blade and liners.

if it isn't slipping should be fine until it isnt. when it isnt send it in for repair.

knife that small to clean up.......i was hit by matthew...my clean required power tools and axes and full-sized saws. wished i could have cleaned up with a folder.;)

I'm in Vero Beach Florida so trees were the least of our problem, most of them left with the wind.

so what did you need that litttle folder to clean up then?;)

relax. i own property all over the state including palm coast on the beach and jacksonville and central florida.....haven't been to all of those yet to clean up.
