Should I buy a Centofante?

I'm thinking of buying the small version of the Centofante in plain edge. Can anyone tell me about the thickness of the blade, how it "feels" and the secure-lock? Any opinions would be appreciated. I like the looks of the knife and its size, but do not have a dealer nearby so that I can handle one. So, I'm counting on you, my fellow knifenuts, to help me out! Thanks!

I'll bet that you will like the knife. It is very nice. The one I handled opened sooo smooth. Very sweet. Just order one from someone who accepts returns. But I doubt you will return it.

Go for it, Chris. It is my favorite dress pants knife & believe me it has competition -- my other knives are very jealous.

Seriously, it's a solid, very classy little performer - razor sharp with both blade shape & handle ergonomics that make it ideal for delicate cutting tasks. (It's the best splinter remover I own.)

I don't have mics so the best I can do is estimate the blade thickness -- the spine appears to start out at 1/8" & tapers gradually as it goes out toward the tip.

As to the SecurLok, IMO, it's rather superfluous. Spyderco knows how to make a solid liner lock -- I test all my folders & none has shown any sign of failure. Nevertheless, I use the SecurLok because it's there. I would, however, prefer if it engaged automatically.

FWIW, the C50 (larger model) is on my wish list. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I may be goin' to hell in a bucket, Babe, but at least I'm enjoyin' the ride.

I have had an older style small Centofante for years. I like it very much. It sharpens easily to a fine edge. The hole may be a little small for very large hands but a larger hole would ruin the looks of the blade. The blade has no choil, which I prefer. As previously stated, it is excellent at small tasks, such as light duty rope cutting, removing splinters, cutting articles out of magazines, and opening the mail. I have handled the newer style and have considered buying one. Sal has previously stated that it will eventually be out in CPM440V. I may get another at that time. If it comes out in BG42 I will certainly get another.

Thanks for the input, guys! I may just have to wait until it comes out in 440V. I recently acquired a Military, and I like the steel as well as the flat grind. I was thinking of the smaller Centofante because I'd like something a little smaller to carry on some days. But the Military seems to carry just fine.
