I love my SFA and had no intentions of purchasing another, but a large retailer put them on sale for $96 shipped recently. It's on backorder until June, so I thought I'd place the order and have some time to think about it. My question is should I buy a second SFA or diversify a bit and purchase the Husqvarna carpenter's Axe that I've been looking at for a while?

I honestly never thought about having a backup before. It was just the price and having some time to think about it. I think I paid around $150 for my first one, so when I saw it I just placed the order.

Well, when people on a blade forum don't tell you to buy a 2nd of something it's probably a pretty good sign I'll never need it ;)

Well, the first one was $150 and a second one would be $96. That's like getting each one for $123. I think it's pretty clear that you need to get the second one so that you can cost average them. You may even need to get 2 more. That's what I'd do.

No do not repeat gear like an axe it will never break
Buy a spare handle

Buy a different style axe for a second
Council Boys or Neally Hudson for much less m oney
