should i go HSS or cobalt?
i work with all cobalt drills and love em, should i expect the same from cobalt reamers? if i'm going to pay 12 bucks for a HSS i might as well go the extra 4 bucks for the cobalt right? i appreciate any input you guys can give me. thanks a lot

heads up mcmastercarr.com sells cobalt reamers cheaper than MSC sells HSS:eek:
i'm beginning to really like that company. they seems to carry everything and damn good prices too!

If the choice must be between HHS and cobalt, I'd go Cobalt.
But would suggest you consider Carbide reamers. that way if you need to ream afte heat treat, Carbide will do it.

Michael,
Carbide with the proper RPM and Air blowing in a rigid setup works good.
A drill PRESS or a milling machine works best with carbide bits.
I Buy Cobalt Drill bits and reamers for non hardened steel like A2 & D2.
The better the tool usually means better the proformance and longer life of the tool.

McMaster-Carr has never sent me a wrong item, or failed me in any way in the last 15 years, and I have spent perhaps a million dollars of my companies' money there over this period of time. How's that for a testimonial?

Damn Higgy thats good by my book.
they're pretty high on my list just for what they carry but now that i hear that they're about as high as possible
