Ok heres the deal. I have been hanging onto this HD7 pe sf for a couple of years. I have kept it out of site and out of mind in my gun case. It is in the original box although mis marked. Knife has now been opened a few times, never waved, and generally handled the past few days. This is as pristine as they get and with a low number, like 0190 or something like that. Although that probably only relates to his customs or his collector series. So the question is should I carry this or save it?

They seem to be going for big dollars on evil bay when you see them. Any thoughts, would you guys keep it for a hedge against knife inflation or just carry it? thanks and keepem sharp

It sounds like you have a fake HD-7, you should send it to me right away for my collect.........i mean disposal :p

I had the same problem with mine a while ago, I just kept it in the safe as I have two 12s as well so just carry one of them.

Its probably worth hanging onto for a while unless you really want to use it.

It'll probably be worth a bundle some day, but if you're like me you'll never be able to sell a knife that you like anyhow, so if you like it you might as well use it.

So far I am sorely tempted but have resisted up to now. I have an SMF comming so I'll see how that goes before ratifying my decision as to carry it or not. I have had a couple of user grade HD's in the past but still nothin says it like brand new ya know. keepem sharp

i carry emerson customs all the time, CQC8's, CQC6's and a CQC13 is my current edc, so, if it was me, i would probably carry it at least some, i do tend to pick one or 2 i like the best and they see the most use, most std productions even disco'd productions arent gonna just go thru the roof anyway, BUT if ya wanna sell the thing collectors are gonna want it to be LNIB shape, to get a premium on it anyway, i would think a user CQC12 or HD7 would be worth as much as they sold for new now, as long as they weren't used TOO hard anyway, and are still in 90+% shape, i can carry a knife for yrs and it still looks like 95% or so as i never cut things which will scuff up the blade, only paper and such, no cans/etc, i have a spyderco delica for std ustility stuff.

I have decided I am going to save it. Back into the gun cabinet it went. I just picked up a "pimped" 12 off evil bay for a very good price. The fella painted the lock side with black auto paint. Other than that the knife is pretty mint so that will be my user.

Now there is a custom A100 on there that is without a doubt the finest Emerson I have ever seen with mother of pearl scales. What a frieakin piece of work. It is stunning to say the least. keepem sharp
