Should I change the angle?

My Spyderco street bowie just came in and i'm pretty disappointed on the edge. I understand that Spyderco puts a 15 degree, or 30 total angle on their knives. I'm using a Lansky sharpening system now and it only goes to a 17 degree angle, so should I put a 17 degree angle on my knife? Thanks.

Spyderco's are sharpened by hand so it could vary already, start on the 17 hole and use a sharpie to see how close it is, as long as its hitting the edge and not the shoulders it'll be fine. Actually it could be like a micro bevel depending on exactly how close it matches.

Spyderco target 15 degrees per side on many knives, but not all knives. Probably all depends on design and intend of use. Choppers like Hossoms and SD like Navaja and Vallotton are sharpened at much more obtuse angles. Unfortunately I am not familiar with Street Bowie nd do not know, what is typical for this knife.
You can always reprofile it, return or send to Spyderco. They will sharpen for free, just pay for return shipping.
