Should I do this?

I've basically decided to buy the Tops Knives Ferret already.

However, I have two questions.

1. What is your opinion of the Tops knives Ferret?

2. Should I get one with serrations? Why or why not?

TTAWR!

If you like it, get it. Looks to be a very handy little cutter, and TOPS seems to do a good job with their steel.

In my opinion, don't bother with serrations. I have several Spydercos with serrations, and while they work great for food prep, I don't see how they perform any better on other materials than a plain edge would. A sharp plain edge will cut just as well as a serrated edge.

If I anticipated having to cut ropes or belts with a knife i would consider serrations. Otherwise plain edge only.

If you like it, yes go ahead and get it. I personally prefer other brands, but like mentioned above Tops make some good knives (and some absurd ones).

However, looking at the knife, that 'bump' in the middle of the handle (I guess its supposed to a finger groove?) would annoy my hand real fast. Try and handle one if you have the chance, and see if your hand is ok with that grip.

I would love to see one in person but I don't know of any good places to go to in Georgia. Do any of you know of a good place to go to?
