Do you guys fill out the warranty cards for new knives (I just got a Buck)....am I covered if I don't fill it out? I'm afraid the card is just used for advertising, and marketing and to get my info for that purpose....

If you're talking a larger company (i.e. Buck), you're very likely fine without filling out the "warranty card." Other smaller companies with much higher priced knives might require such a card filled out, so in those cases, I'd tread more carefully.

I send all mine in, just b/c it makes it feel more like a family member, like applying for life insurance. It makes it seem more like a keeper:)

In the state of California, as long as you have your dated reciept that indicates what you purchased and when, the manufacturer is required to honor the warranty, although from what I hear of Buck, it wouldn't matter either way. they just take care of their customers.

In my experience, Benchmade is the same way, even when not obligated to be. Both are great American companies.

I've sent two knives in to Buck for warranty work without registering them. Both were serviced and returned without any problem in less than 2 weeks. I understand that this is the norm for Buck.
