I have a Delica and LOVE it, also I much, much, prefer TIP UP carry, but I also prefer FLAT grind to hollow grind. So is the Calaypso Jr. good enough for me to overcome my preference for tip up carry??

Also is there anyone besides me interested in a flat ground Delica or a tip up Calaypso and does such a knife exist or will it ever??

FRN delicas are not hollow ground, but flat saber ground. only SS delicas are hollow ground.

maybe you should try one, flat saber ground is still better than hollow ground. look at other flat ground spydies too (manix, dragonfly, and more...)

but to the general thoughts, everybody needs a Calypso Jr (that's mainly why I bought one (I needed a small good knife) and wait for it to arrive. I'm kind of sheeple for this kind of things lol, I trust the general opinion of Bladeforums members.)

Choubbi, you are right about the Delica grinds, I've owned one of each SS and FRN for years but neven noticed that they were different, prob bc i only carry FRN regularly, I stand corrected.

Only get one if you like small, light, relatively inexpensive folders that are wickedly sharp.

Somebody here once described the Caly Jr. as a "pocket scalpel."

That's VERY accurate. You certainly won't be disappointed.

Its a fantastic knife for the money and no mistake. However, have you considered the UK Penknife? Better steel and ergo's and the lack of a lock is not a problem.

I have never seen or heard of a UK Penknife, what is it? Also Spyderco's website says they are out of Calypso Jrs. and that their discontinued, where could I get one??

I managed to get mine from spyderco before they sold out. I have had it for less than a week, but so far is a great knife. I like it...alot. So, from my limited experience with the knife, i would recomend it.

Ebay, New Graham Knives, johnfjenson.com.

I have a UK Penknife but they are not for US market (yet), only UK. If I could get another it would be my EDC.

Thanks for the info on the penknife, any indea where I could get one, and roughly what I should pay, if it had a lockback that is DEFINATELY what I'd want to replace my delica, love love carry wire clips ;)

Probably your (our) best bet would be to ask on British Blades Forum. I'm sure someone there will point us in the right direction if there are any in stock. I bet it'll be $120 plus. Bad exchange rate for us right now. You can probably get 3 if not 4 Calypso Jrs. for the same price. Have you seen the new Burgundy Calypso Jr. that will be out this year. It apparently is made of ZDP-189, a new supersteel said to be harder (Rc 66 or 67 I think) than S30V. Pricing on that number is not yet available.
