Should I get the purple bowie TNP version or the orange version (of the SR-1A)?

Depends if the coloration and blade shape are worth an extra $50 to you. The knife isn't as limited edition as was originally planned. The pre-orders were sold out, yet BladeHQ doesn't seem to be running out of them. That's good news for you and bad news for the guys who thought it was going to be very exclusive.

Then you have to consider possibly acquiring a used Ti version with the Sleipner steel for $100 more. Nothing wrong with D2, but Sleipner is supposed to be an upgraded version of D2, so that might be a better user if you can justify the price.

Personally, I don't think the TNP version is worth the extra $50 because I'm not in love with the color. Had it been the pale purple color seen on the LE BladeHQ model I would say hell yes. All personal preference really..

I would go with the purple knife, mainly because the bowie blade is cool and I love the fact that it is one piece of aluminum.

Three questions:

  1. Do you have a color preference?
  2. Do you have a blade shape preference?
  3. Do you care about the $40 price differential?

I like both drop point and bowie, but I'd tend toward the drop point because it is significantly stronger.
I like both the bright orange and deep purple. The orange might be better due to visibility -- it would be harder to lose.
On bladehq they are both $230, but I've seen a few of the orange version on ebay for 180, and they might keep popping up.

I'd say Orange then!

TNP is a limited edition. In order to be sure to make all the pieces ordered we produced around 20 pieces more. BladeHQ decided to keep also the 20 more.
So I CONFIRM that it is a limited production.

How many were produced for each black and satin blade TNP limited edition run? 500 of each?

ok, I've decided to go for the orange one, because 170 from ebay is significantly less coin than the tnp one for 230, and cause I don't like to lose things -- orange things are hard to lose...

Nice choice. I went with orange/satin myself. Some of the prominent reviewers on youtube seem to be hot for the orange/black combo but I much prefer the satin blade. I'm actually getting it later this afternoon. Can't wait!!! Congrats and enjoy yours!

I just ordered a tnp edition. Looking at reviews on YouTube that purple color came out amazing.

Bowie's are also my favorite blades...can't wait for it to get here!

Can I ask how many were made in total ? The black and the satin blade..

I have one in orange and I love it. However I kinda wish I had one of those purple bowies!! Better blade shape in my opinion and the purple is pretty sweet.
