After work I stopped by an antique store to hunt for some knives. Found a lot too, just not enough spending $. Cold Steel twistmaster, Case XX Finn knife, Case peanut for my dad for his b-day end of the month, Camillus scout knife and a Remington jack knife. All were in great shape but I was most intrigued by a Buck 103 I saw in one dealers case. No markings except for
BUCK
103
USA.

Steel looks stainless, sheath and knife are in good condition. My sisters boyfriend wants to get one for his dad. Is 55 bucks too high? Automatic 10% discount, so 50 with tax. Didn't get any pics. Btw, only the Camillus and Case peanut made it home with me.

The Buck 103 can be bought new for that. Not a deal to jump on necessairly. If it's an older one, I think pre 1992 the steel will be 425M instead of 420HC. Not sure how much difference that makes to you. It's a common knife so unless it has other special features such as non standard handle materials etc. the vintage value doesn't really start to kick in on this knife until it gets to the 2 line version (BUCK / USA) and earlier (pre 1972). That's my opinion anyways.

Not a great deal or rare deal.

Lots around at about that price unless it's really pristine.

If it looks unused and the sheath in like condition, its a decent buy. The model you describe was mfg. 1972-81 stamped in that fashion. Thats what I've paid for that very model you mention recently even from other collectors. I've recently seen them sharpened and used (with sharpening scratches) at shows and they were asking the same. They may deal with me had I pursued it... Should it have the box and paperwork it goes for more. Just what I'm seeing in the Southwest even all the way out to Calif.. DM

If you really like it and you happen to pass that way again, wave three ten dollar bills at him, tell him that's all you can offer and let him ask forty and then add a five dollar bill to your three tens and tell him that's the best you can do.

If you get it great......if you don't......there are always more Bucks to buy.
