Saw this listed on FB, the girl is selling it for a friend so only has this picture and no information on it. I read Codger's post regarding the dates of the sheaths and think this one is a 90s model. The blade looks like carbon steel to me.

$15, only way I could go wrong is if it's one of those crappy Taylor ones but it really don't look like it to me. Having never seen one of these though, what do you guys think? Anyway to guess the date? I'm going to check it out in person tomorrow hopefully.

Looks legit to me. Although I can't read the exact tang stamp, it seems to be in the correct location for an original (compared to a Taylor). Even if you can't read the tang stamp at all, even in person, if it's carbon steel you know it's original.

For $15 with no shipping and no sales tax... It'd make a nice user knife. Sharpen it up and carry it for hunting season. It's not worth much more than $15 though, IMO, because of the condition. And since it has no collector value, the specific age of the knife won't matter (as long as it's an original USA Old Timer).

Looks like carbon steel (a.k.a. 1095). So far as I know, the Taylor knives are all in stainless, so I'd bet this one is original USA Schrade. At $15 for a 1095 Schrade, I'd POUNCE on that one; essentially nothing to risk in doing so. Should sharpen up nice and be a great user.
