I recently got a pic from Tim Wegner of a custom version that has the grips checkered. It looks really good. I would post it, but it is in acrobat format and I cant convert it.

What do you think about having the g-10 scales on my Spyderco checkered? The scales are plenty comfy now, but maybe would improve and/or look good with the checkered grips.

In the past it has been discussed as to if the Wegners clip screws are threaded all the way thru and including its steel liner. I examined 2 of my personal Wegners and have found this not to be the case. In fact, when their screws and the clip were removed, you can peek in and see a visible gap between the G10 scale and the steel liner! The point is this: are the G10 scales of (every) the Wegner solid or not? If they are not, then you need be very cautious concerning how deep the checkering, if any at all, will go into the scales. Something to think about...

PS- checkering is the only way to go with smooth scales!

I cehecked and the screws do appear to be tapped into the liner on mine. Any recomendations on who to use for checkering?

Heh, just came from your thread in the Shop Talk forum. And wanted to give you this url. But BCaffrey is on the money. Go with Checkermarx. I' ve had quite a few blades done with her checkering service. They are top notch.
