Should I?, or shouldn't I?

I already think that Spyderco's Caly 3 and The Stretch 2 are the best that Spyderco has to offer ever!! And, as a Lefty, I never had a real fondness for any knife with a liner lock. But now Sal went and did it, and made a Lefty Military. Tell me what I should do, and especially why! I always read all of the great things about theMili and it's cult like following, but remind me! :D:D

Tough call. I have one on the way, mostly because I was among the many left handed users who suggested it. It's really too big for me and I can't think of a single thing I do with a folder where a thicker blade would be an advantage. So it will probably will see even less use than my AT Barr left handed One Eyed Jack. I'm so use to mid locks, and so satisfied with the way they work for me, that using anything else has very little appeal.

It's a nice knife. The handle's a bit bloated, but the blade is great and construction is first rate. Not a bad price for what you get. Won't fit comfortably into some pockets, but there's lots of workarounds. Nice open construction for easy cleaning and visual inspection. No worries.

I think as a lefty you are required by some Spyderco law to buy one ;)

But really, it is a big knife but the more ya carry it, the smaller it gets.

To Big a knife for me. I sold mine. Now the Stretch is just about the perfect size.
I do like the Manix however so the Millie has a ergo/shape issue for me as well...just not for me.

But go ahead and buy it. It'll be pretty easy to sell it if you don't like it.

The Military has the most comfortable handle of any folder I've used, and the blade profile cuts like nothing else.
It also has one the best examples of a liner lock you will ever find. That becomes even less common in a left hand model.

I've almost considered buying a lefty Mili just so I can have one for each hand.

What he said:thumbup:

I'm a lefty, and I have an orange Millie. The cutout in the handle slab makes it possible to open the lock with my index finger.

Full review after my exams are over :D

Well - I ordered the Lefty. Can't wait till it gets here, so I can see what all of the Millie mania is about!

Its a big knife, but very light for its size and rides well in the pocket for a large knife. The only really large folder I will sometimes carry for these reasons.
I can choke back on the large handle and it will cut through briars that grow along my trail like they were hot butter. Even works better for this than any of my fixed blades since the blade/handle weight ratio gives you alot of blade speed.

I think you'll love it!

I play with some of my liner and frame locks often with left hand. I may order one just for that.

btw- I didn't know these were out, does many places have them?

I found at least three places that had them in stock. They seem to be available with a lot of retailers. I didi hear that it was a limited run however!

Paul,

I find that the Military's 4 mm blade cuts and slices as well, or better, than most of my 3 mm, FFG Spyders. Maybe because of greater weight & leverage and/or the steeper bevels that Golden knives generally have?

I bought two, from two different sources; the second one is numbered "102V" on the blade/box. Fine knives, thanks Sal.

RMG - Mine is marked 068V - What do those numbers mean?
Also, I will be EDC'ing this knife, and will report how well I like it. So far - first impressions, It is awesome. I like the ergo's -- a lot - Dare I say, better than the Stretch II
More to follow!

What does a limited run means? Is there a fixed number or do they make them for as long as they are selling?

DavidZ . . . I'm not sure what the number 102V (or 068V) means; I'm carrying the one without the number, saving the one with as a safe queen.
