Should I refurb this

I have a SA Jereboam 1 that badly needs a refurb. The question is, value wise should I do it ? At the moment it's for display only and I'll probably keep it that way by buying a Mountaineer to use. What would you do ?

Thanks, Mike.

How did it hold up and perform for you with all that use?

I've never had one refurbished that was that bad, but I'd be curious how it turned out.

I can't imagine it would HURT the value. I don't think it ever does hurt the value to have the MAKER refurbish any knife. If you had someone ELSE work on it, that's another story.

I say send it in. It looks like it's ready as any Reeve I've seen.

Congrats on using it that much and not making it a safe queen. I bet the Reeve company gets a sense of pride to see knives come back for refurbish that have been used hard.

Your other option - better for us - would be for you to continue using it that hard for about 3 times as long and report back with photos.

:D I haven't used it at all, bought it like that. That's why I want a Mountaineer to use as this one is a little rarer ;) The only thing I don't like is that one of the previous owners has tried to sharpen the tip and ended up re-grinding it  Not sure what CRK could do about that ..
Mike.

i would send it back for refurb and have the tip re profiled a little shorter and get rid of the other owners mistake.

I would send it in.I would bet you could not tell it from new when you get it back.

Thanks for the replies guys  I'll get it off next week and let you know how it goes :D
Mike.

Sorry for not replying sooner. My laptop blew up and I've been really busy with work :D It will be sent first thing Monday and I'll report back with pics when it returns :)
Mike.

Glade to say it has now arrived at CRK :) I now have a dilemma though ... do I have it returned to to me, or offer it for trade here  I would quite like some sort of large sebbie to go with the small regular I've got. Would any of you guys be interested ?
Also, Anne has asked if I want the blade reground to look as it originally would of, but she pointed out some collectors might not want that .. your thoughts .. ? :)
Cheers, Mike.

I would let CRK regrind the blade.

And you can not make trade or for sale offers in the CRK forum.

Cheers TKC :) I was more looking to gauge any possible future interest here, not to actually make a trade .. but I take your point and will abide by the rules totally ;)
Mike.
