Because I kinda do. Long story short, I really liked the look and quality of Fiddleback's knives and looked to purchase on but couldn't find any for sale. I looked on the website only to find out he's no longer taking orders and there were no blades for sale. In my search I came across the Recluse made by BRKT and ordered one. Now I find this forum and see they sell here pretty often:mad: I know Bark River makes great knives an I own a few but I was really hoping for an original:(

keep the recluse, your right BR does make a great knife, I own one myself. Took me a while to land a Fiddleback but I waited and was in the right place, right time, now I have two.....don't think Andy is
going anywhere soon, at least I hope not, so if you keep your eyes peeled you may find some beauties that Andy's post up or a sell from someone else...

I love my production Recluse , and have been looking for a wood handled one for awhile . Keep it as i don't believe another run will be made , and it's slightly different from the A .R . version .

I've had a similar experience in my quest for Fiddleback blades. I like the production Recluse. I've used it many times and found it to be a very solid knife that will take a razor sharp edge with ease. Be patient, the Fiddlebacks will come. Oh BTW, they are addictive. I curently own five...Good Luck

I think the production Recluse is a great knife. I own one, and like it. I don't like thinking people feel regret when they get one. Its a nice knife made by a great American manufacturer. There are knives available here at my forum a lot, so hopefully you can get one I made as well. Thanks for the support guys. I live off of it, and we all appreciate it here.

The Recluse, as with other FB knives is one worth waiting on.

Enjoy Using the BR until then, in good health!

Thanks for the replies guys. Let me just say, I don't regret the recluse itself, just jumping the gun on it and not being more patient for one of yours. At the same time I got this one it looks like you had another thread with some really bad a$$ bushfingers in it. I agree that BR is a great manufacturer and I frequent their forum on the other site. Anyway it looks like I got a great knife either way and learned a valuable lesson at the same time :)

Your Bark River is a well made and very functional knife(after all Andy designed it and Bark River is an excellent manufacturer), and if that was the only fixed blade you owned, you would do just fine. That said, One of Andy's customs is definately a step up. If you get the chance to buy one, do it. You will be glad you did.

I dont own one of the FiddleBarks but I can tell you I would be OK with it. If Andy put his name on it Im sure its a quality product but I would not feel regret for getting it. Hell you got a new knife, as long as it aint some China crap then why would there be regret? New Knife is always a good thing. Put in your time and you will get one of Andy orginals. I must say tho if you are looking for a Recluse. I aint seen Andy put one out in a while, so they are probably due up. Keep an eye out is all I can tell you, they will go quick.

Regret??? No way, I started with a Fiddlebark Recluse and got bit hard. Now that I own one of Andy's new Hunters my bite has gotten infected and I just can't stop. I mean it his work is truely addicting. Build your knife funds up and be vigilant on this forum. You'll find what you want and it will be most satisfying. My only problem right now is my funds are on the low side so I'm saving up to go to Blade in 2012 and see what he has in person. By the way that Fiddlebark Recluse cuts up a roasted chicken like nobody's business!

I JUST got back my BRKT Gunny from Bark River (they took the thumb ramp off for me) and I just love that knife. With Andy's design - it is a home run for those who got one.

Andy makes great knives and you get more 'custom' from him - but see what you like about it - and get another Fiddleback if need be.

Remember - they don't loose much value. Selling it will be EASY.

That's funny, I sent in my Gunny to have the same thing done :) I really like the recluse so far, but to he honest it feels and looks a whole lot like a barkie. I have a couple of those already so I wanted to get something different. Who knows, I may sell this and hold out for an original.
