The liner lock on my wegner slides all the way to the opposite side when opened. I have read that it should lock up half to 3/4 of the way across instead.

Should I send the knife to Spyderco for adjusting/repair?

thank you,
Todd

I would send it to Spyderco for adjustment.I have both the small and large plain edge models and both stop about half way over on lock up.If yours goes all the way over it isn't leaving any room for wear and it could fail. The Spyderco folks will have it up and fixed for you in no time.

"As always, if a knife fails to function as it was designed, regardless of its age, we will examine its condition thoroughly. If manufacturing or material defects are evident, it will be covered under our warranty and will be repaired or replaced with the same model or one of equal value. Cases in which it is determined that the product is not covered under our warranty, we will use our best judgement in improving its condition. You will be notified by mail of the estimate of repair cost, before work will begin. If we are unable to repair or improve the condition of your knife or we do not receive authorization, we will return "as-is" with a recommendation that it be retired from use.

Please direct any questions regarding the warranty polices to our mailing address, fax, email, or URL. Packages directed to Spyderco should be sent UPS or registered mail (for tracking purposes) with a complete name, UPS-deliverable street address, daytime phone number, and a description of the concern.

Yes. Send it back.

Todd - If the knife has vertical play, you'll have to send it back. If it doesn't have any vertical play, I wouldn't worry about it.

Sorry to be so uneducated Sal, but which way is vertical with regard to a knife?

Is it the direction which it normally opens? and side ways play would be horizontal?

thanks,
todd

Todd - correct. The ramp is a self adjustment feature to compensate for wear on the liner.
