I have the chance to trade for either a Randall made model 25 trapper or model 18 w/stag handle, my choice.
The trade on my part would be
A microtech ultratech D/E , and my bedlam 8600, both like new with box and bags, + $150.00.
The Randall,s are near mint condition according to the guy who has them,, we,ll meet face to face if trade happens.
So what do you think, I,m kind of going back and forth on it, but I only have a week to decide because he,s moving..

Sounds like a nice way to get into a Randall. I do have a question. Are you sure about the #18?
I had an 18 that was the saw tooth, hollow handle knife I bought in the late 70's. Have they made new variations on this knife?
Just concerned for your trade, but I don't have a lot of Randall knowledge to work from.
Good Luck on the trade

This all depends on a number of factors. The first and most important, what do you want more? Are you over autos? Do you have others to play with? If not will you miss your ultratech click clack? The second is are your knives in new condition? Or are they users? If your knives are brand new the trade is basically dead even. Of coarse the randall takes a slight edge because in the case of the randalls they hold their value extremely well. If I were you and did the deal I would prefer the 25. But really your the one who has to decide which knives suit you better. At the end of the day its a fair trade even if all knives involved are new or mint. Mind you I said fair, You would not be making money.

according to randall and a few dealers sites it is still being made in certain variations and yes its the hollow handle with saw tooth spine.

The only Randall 18's I've ever seen were the hollow handle survival knives. I'm not an expert, but I don't think the 18 was offered with stag.

No I,m not sure I don,t know a whole lot about Randalls, just that I like them, we were at a gun range during this conversation so I may have misheard about it being a model 18, but I know he did say stag, I,ll find out today, thanks for the heads up. And about condition my two are mint not a mark on them, he says his are too, but I haven't seen them yet..

Glad you will be face to face. Because near Mint usually means well-used. And Mint means used a little but polished up to look good.

Thats probably the case, I know most of my gun trades have ended with the actual gun slightly less mint condition than seller says it was.
