pull the trigger on a BK9...?

I have no idea on what the Camilus Brute sold for but if you guys had to guesstimate what price would the new one sell for?

Well the new one will be made in Taiwan so it will be cheaper than if it were made in US. Considering the Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie is ~$50, I would guess the Brute to be around $70, but that is just a guess. It is going to be a while before it gets into production so I would say go ahead and pick up the 9, you won't be dissapointed.

The old Camillus BK1 is a collectors item, I've seen prices around 300$. Better get a BK9 now for this year, and buy the new Ka-Bar Brute for... let me make something up here... say 130$ tops in 2012?

My 2 (european) cents

IMO it will cost more then the BK9.

I would buy the BK9 and then get the brute also.

I cant wait to get the machax and brute

I agree with Flexxx, Meat, and BRab: get the BK-9 (for now, at least). It's a hell of a chopper and wood-processor. I don't think the Brute will replace the BK-9 so much as compliment it, anyways. You will definitely like the '9.

IMO, the BK9 beats the pants off the Brute. In every way. But, that's my opinion.

This pic says it all doesn't it!

What I like about the brute is the bolo like blade shape & the 'anvil' on the spine for batonning. WHich ironically is it's downfall too, from what I've read about the camillus. Doesn't sharpen easily & not much use for the blade other than the sweet spot which sits near the tip of the blade. Current Brute owners is this true?

if you need something now, buy it now.

it's hard to bank on something that's not ready yet, right?

The nine is a very useful tool, and I might add that it is the one knife more beckerheads would use if they could have, only one.

you're gonna pay 3 times the price for a BK1 over a BK9 easy. Plus I do remember E saying one of the reasons he hadn't planned on re releasing the BK1 is cause the BK9 was superior at chopping. Thats how I remember it anyway.
