Just wondering if I should worry about this, is it purely cosmetic or does this need to be addressed and if so what can I do

Sorry for the lousy pics I only have my iphone to illustrate with

that is simply where they joined the bolster. They are present on most of the Khuks and nothing to worry about.
They take a piece of brass and hammer it together then heat it and hammer it more, this is what happens and how it looks when they finish.

It would be nice if they started putting those joins on the bottom of the bolster though where they won't be seen so much...

Yep, Warty got it right. Only thing they messed up is putting it on the spine side, so you see it too easily..

From the pix, I cant get the prpblem. If it's the problem that Warty said, then you can feel free chopping.

To make the bolster, they roll a piece of brass from sheet stock, then solder the ends together to make a ring. They heat the brass ring up, put in some borax or flux for easier join, then use a stick, melt it to act as glue to fill up the joint. Normally, the stick is not brass like the sheet stock, it also contain alu, lead, ... To reduce the melting degree. That'swhy you see this mark in darker color

to make the join more beautiful, i oftenmove the join down to the bottom, near the cho. Besides, i use the stick of the same material as the brass ring. To melt it, it reqires higjer heat.
