okay need a little impartial input. I picked up a couple of the crkt stings lately and like the knife but hate the sheath. It seems to me to really need a kydex sheath and here's the problem, the dang sheath will cost more than the knife. Normark does great work and i'm looking at dozier knives here in arkansas. It looks like a kydex sheath is going to run about $35 - $45 dollars including shipping. So is the crkt sting worthy of such an investment?? let me know i'm on the bubble and need a push either way. thanks

Mr. ahgar,

$35 to $45 Dollars for a Hand Made Kydex Sheath is pretty standard.

It is not the fault of the maker that You have chosen an inexpensive knife to have it made for.

It appears to me that the cost of the knife is not relevant to the cost of the custom sheath.

that's up to you. I know of people who have got kydex sheaths for Mora knives but in some cases it's people who use the mora everyday so go through a number of knives while keeping the custom sheath

Its a good investment if you liek the knife...I normally don't buy aftermarket sheaths...but after getting a sebenza I am having a custom sheath made, in ym case the sehath doesn't touch the price of the knife, but that doesn't matter, if you will use the knife and the sheath often than its worth it...

It coems down to how much you like the knife? If you really like it alot then an expensive sheath would be worth the price if it is better than what the knife came with and you enjoy it!

Normark does great work

I picked up a Buck 802ss after getting re-acquainted with the Buck 102 of my Brothers when skinning out and processing his doe. I definitely want to pick up a sheath for it after getting used to the sheath and tech lock for my BM210.

Anyone have a comparison between Normark and Brown Industries, or other kydex/concealex folks?

Totally agree!! Couldn't say anymore because that's the just of it. Knives have a huge range of prices, while kydex sheaths stay around the same price for a $1000 knife or a $2 knife!

Any knife is worthless if you can't carry it safely and effectively. It's the cost of doing business. Buy the best and cry once. :D

thanks for the help, i guess i'll have to gooble with the sting and see if i like it enough to invest in it.

i think the sheat is nearly as important as the knife. if you hate the sheath, you wont ever use the knife.

look at it as a total investment, not as purchasing two unrelated items.

What part of Arkansas are you in?? I am in NW Arkansas. If near feel free to stop by the shop and we can talk kydex.:D

thanks for the offer i'm in central ark if i get up that way i'll give you a yell. ahgar
