Do you think that the Umfaan should make a return or not? My brother in-law has been looking over a decade for one. He really wishes he didn't sell it.

I’ve never seen one in person.
From pictures, it looks too small for my tastes.

I don't want to talk about it. I passed on one for $400 bucks in 2015 and have hated myself since.

They come up now and then on secondary market, but at pretty heffty prices.
I don't think they will come back. They are extremely small, and a bit impractical(IMO). It is a very limited market and the desire for one is often driven by their lack of availability.
That said some of the originals with graphics by Chris were amazing.

If your brother wants one $2000 worth, there was one listed on the CRK exchange on Aug 17 is not sold as far as I can see

I think they would be able to sell them these days. When I worked for the Gov't, I really wanted a knife under 2.5 inches to carry at work. Had to settle for the Mnandi (which was still too long).

The Umfaan was, IMO, the best gentlemen's pocket knife ever made. Small enough to be unobtrusive, enough blade when needed, good enough steel to remain sharp/resharpen, etc. I lost mine some time back and have always lamented that.
