Warncliffe fighter blade I am working on with a little over 7" blade of flat ground, marquenched, vacuum melted 52100. Cutting edge is 6.25" and is thin enough to cut you right now, and I havent even convexed an edge on it yet(dont ask me how I know this). ;)

Not sure of what guard style to use, or handle material either. Suggestions are welcomed.

Another view. Blade still needs finishing work, obviously. What is starting to scare me is the grinds are actually quite even. :)

I absolutely love the wharnecliffe blade shape! Are you going to have that displayed at Chicago?

I doubt if it will be done by the Chicago show, but I will bring it to show you. I am only going to the show as an observer, not set up with a table.

Hmmm Lord Graley's Warncliff Model...heheh maybe not..
But nice she be! When you go stretching them out and striking with a long straight edge like that, stuff doesn't get out of the way, it just parts! ;)

That Ed Schott Lord Wharncliff's Mistress on sale by Will York right now is a good example of that style of knife, I had it a short while and was whacking through some brambles and where a curved type of blade would have pushed the brambles back or out of the way, the straight edge of the wharncliff just sliced right through, biting deeply!

What type of handle you going to haft it with? Hidden tang will be sweet, love the feel of not feeling the tang, also Rob Hudson says he MUCH prefers to make hidden tang knives as it protects the tang from the elements better, if you do the guard properly of course!

Thanks for thinking of me, my wanton lust for wharncliff blades Obviously proceeds me :)

Ahh, I was wondering how long it would take Lord Graley to chime in here. :)

As for the guard and handle suggestions, I am still soliciting ideas. Obviously, it will be some sort of hidden mortis tang construction. I am thinking of maybe ironwood, with a nickel silver guard of some sort.

I vote for ss guard and Ironwood.
I'm sure the grind lines are going to be perfect.

I still look at the knife you made for me and marvel at the perfect lines. It's part of my edc rotation now.
Watch out for that scotchbrite belt now:p
