I checked out the website, I am totally blown away by some of the great stuff! While I'm saving up for a V-Gar, I was wondering, is the Associate Shoulder Harness available for the Cold Steel Recon Tanto?

Jack M,

Welcome to the forums! Yes the Asscociate will work for the CS Tanto. You will either have to send James your Tanto with sheath for modification to work with the harness or you can get a custom fitted JSP sheath for it. GREAT STUFF! ^_^

I don't think I would waste my time modifying Cold Steel's Kydex, I don't know if they make a Kydex Sheath for the Recon Tanto or not, all I have seen is Nylon for it.

Are you speaking of the Recon Tanto that was sold through Cutlery Shoppe into the early 1990's or the current one that is Carbon V and black powder coated?

You would want James to make you a sheath, give him a call and he will set you right up.

I had a friend of mine who was a Vietnam Vet, his son bought him a CS Recon Tanto and he used to carry it everywhere in the Nylon Sheath, simply tucked into his pants.

I showed him how you could draw it and as you unsnapped the retention strap, you would flip the sheath into the attacker's face. He loved that. He was a mean old coot, he died last winter of cancer....heads up for Wayne Shorter!

Mine is Carbon V, blacked. I actually have two, one is a second, but both came with the leather sheath and were ordered from the Special Projects catalog. The "flick the sheath at them is a GREAT one, unfortunatly, the leather sheaths are so snug that I would probably need to tie a pound or so of lead to the bottom to make it fly off! On the other hand, that would raise the distraction element of getting hit with it considerably.
I was thinking of having the sheath made for it, to insure maximum compatibility with the shoulder rig. Given the popularity of this knife, have you done one before? Would it still be necessary to ship the knife to you?
