First off I think I fell on my head lol.
I ran across an Old Ka-Bar Buffalo Hunter skinning knife and liked the design so I placed an order for the 5" Green River Buffalo Hunter Blank and used some Oak wood for the handle scales I had laying around and split it for a book match and used 3/16 brass round stock for the pins. Finished the Oak Scales with Boiled Linseed Oil. Sorry if it does not look great as this was the first time I have done something like this.

And of course I had to make a Sheath for the knife of which this is my first time using Leather for anything but I think it turned out ok.

Now the question lol. I am looking for a good Skinner blank that will hold an edge as it will be used mainly for cutting up Wild Hog and Deer. As some of you may know a Wild Hog can kill an edge of a knife very quickly.
So a point in the right direction would be great as well as what type of steel should I look for? I was thinking D2 but I could very well be wrong?
Thank You one and all.
