We get the occasional question about oil and maintenance every so on... and in general, the bladeforum crowd seems to obsess about the potential rustiness of carbon steel.

I do not believe that rust is an issue with BKT knives. So somebody prove me wrong - show me a pic of a legit rusty / pitted / corrosion damaged BKT. Show me where you have had a functional problem with 1095CV due to rust. Particularly a Kabar BKT.

Maybe one of the PNW crowd has something...

East Tenn. Temp today was 92 degrees, 87% humidity.

Mosquito admiring the rust.

My BK2 has a little on it, but I don't have any recent pics. 1095CV just doesn't rust like most people think.

You could scrub that off with a dandelion. I am looking for something along the lines of 'cast iron skillet left in the yard all winter' - something that you need naval jelly to remove - something that requires a brass brush and serious RPM's...

It's just not out there. I have stripped my BK's and never even seen one try to get flash rust on it. I may have to do some corrosion torture testing just to prove what I already think.
