I recently acquired a used Bushcraft. I love it!

Now I have the hots for a Temperance 2. After the Bushcraft I am seriously considering owning a T2. I have read most of the online reviews. I have searched here for info. Everybody that owns them seems to love them.

But I want to see and hear from you guys that use them.

Show me some T2 love, dirty, scraped, scuffed, chipped. I want to see the down and dirty users.

What have you got for me?

I don't have one, but it's awesome. I liked it way better than the bushcraft. Just haven't got around to getting one yet.

Would you care to elaborate?

Did you use them?, what made it better than the Bushcraft in your opinion?

I see them as two different tools for two different purposes. But I think they would compliment each other well.

Anyone else?

For such a sweet knife, I am surprised by the lack of feedback on this.

I have one, but like too many of my knives, it's one that stays nice and new in the box living a life of luxury. It is a gorgeous knife - I just tend to collect more than use.

The Bushcraft looks a lot like my BHK Woodsman Pro (which I've actually carried hunting, but don't believe I've ever cut anything with it either)

Yeah it is totally different, which is why I liked it better. Nothing against bushcraft blades, except I like flat grinds. It's got a slightly forward angle to it and a flat ground leaf shaped blade. The handle to me feels as comfortable as any production knife I've held and it shifts around very well. Oddly this is what a lot of folks seem to say about the bushcraft handle. It's not too much different from a mule in shape but a little more stretched out if that makes sense to you. It was designed for action with no points to snag it from incidental contacts. This comes with a hilarious story which I don't feel at liberty to share.
I would think it would be excellent for food prep, general knife stuff and defense. Edge goes to bush craft for bushcraft chores because Temps got a distal taper and a thin point, also which I like. I actually did not get to use it, but I feel qualified to make a recommendation based on experience.

MC Chan,

Thanks,

Your answer makes sense, and I trust your judgement,

I am very new to Spyderco, so wrapping my haed around the acronyms, terminology, and the dizzying array of models is challenging.

Absolutely! Can't go wrong by picking all the best models first.

Funny you would say "The Best Models First" because I have a set of the Temperance 1 models ( the original Temperance design) and I have the plain edge and the Spyderedged versions. I use those blades so much that I would never even consider getting rid of them. Actually I doubt if I would like the Temp 2 anymore than I do like the Temp 1 model. Now don't get me wrong the Temp 2 is truly one great design and the Micarta handle is superb for any outdoor cutting chores. But the Temp 1 is so versatile it is now my most used fixed blade. It's held up against some of the most brutal sharpening jobs I've ever encountered. A few years back we got a 35lb snapping turtle while on a hunting/fishing trip up to north Missouri.

For those of you who aren't aware Snapping Turtle makes great soup meat. We dressed out that Snapper in about 15 to 20 minutes and I used the PE & SE versions of the Temp 1 which put all the other guy's knives to shame. I couldn't hardly believe how well that Spyderedged version of the Temp 1 went through that turtle shell.

As far as an overall utility knife I would never go anywhere without taking my Temp 1 blades. To me it's a terrible shame that the Temp 2 is not available in Spyderedge like the Temp 1 was. They should make them available by special order if nothing else. I will probably end up gettting a Temp 2 at some point but my set of Temp 1 blades really gets the job done.

One of my biggest wishes is that they would reintroduce the Temp 1 ( PE & SE) in the H-1 Salt Series. What a set of outdoor fixed blades that would be!!! I think it would go great with the current line up of the H-1 Salt blades being offered.

I never had a Temperance one but I'm sure you are right, the two is fancier but not necessarily better. The same way I know I should have a Moran because it's a bargain priced thing destroyer but I never could just plunk down the cash. Because I have too many knives that have fancier pants.

I have owned a Temp2 for a couple of years but for some reason have hardly used it. It's a nice looking knife and I can't fault it in any way but when I pick up a knife or two for an outing I never seems to get picked. Sounds ridiculous I know but maybe they should do a less shiny version. I use the Phil Wilson quite a bit.
