I first got into knives because I love to whittle. I am very bad at it, but I enjoy making a few spoons and other kitchen utensils. My favourite whittling knife is the Mora 120. Works great and easy to keep sharp with the scandi grind.

But it is, well...boring! I would love to see some knives built for whittling with some great handles. Do any of you have any custom knives that are made or work great for whittling? If so, I'd love to see them. It would also help to know the blade length.

i just finished a carving knife for myself, haven't even taken pictures yet, I'll take a few tonight.

Thanks. I would really love to eventually have a whittling knife that whittles as well as my Mora 120 but looks gorgeous. Since I use it so much it might as well be pretty...

here is the carver i just made, I intentionally went with a larger beefier blade (for a whittler) because i intent to use this as a rough cut blade something that with take stock down quickly, but if needed still have enough finesse for some detail. I haven't even had time yet for a sheath or to sharpen it, sorry for the crumby pictures too. The handle is stabilized walnut, the liners were a kind of yellow G10 that i thought would look really cool like a mustard color but they had some transparency to them and all the color got washed out once glued up, oh well.

The blade is 1.75" long, O1 tool steel, 1/8" thick.

I've been thinking of getting a 120. I'm currently using this Tommi by Mikko Inkeroinen. I'm quite pleased with it, so it looks like there is no point in picking up the Mora.
