Dear All,

let´s assume you would like to stay for a long time in the wilderness like Proenekke, what would be on your long term wilderniss stay equipment list?

Many thanks.

Best regards,

I am still working on it lol.

I know the main pack I would take is my Northwest bushcrafter pack.
I love mine.

Good felling and splitting axe or axes for log building and firewood.
Good buck and/or cross-cut saw for logs and rounds.
Good large gouges, chisels, and an auger for scribing and joinery work.
Quality small, medium, and large knives, of course.
Rifle and shotgun.
Tarp and canvas field tent with stove.
Miniature donkey to pull it all. :0

Just how long you stayin? :)

1. Skill set
2. Bank roll
3. Hand tools
4. pack o smokes
5.sunglasses
6.overnight bag
7. possibles

possibles would include gear to feed yourself and other such necessities, water purification, lamp oil, sundries and the like.

Overnight bag has everything you need to stay overnight.-which means you really dont need to leave except you dont have enough food and eventually the gear will wear out/

I try to never go anywhere without shades and a pack of smokes-but I kinda like to quit so 1 pack will have to do.

Hand tools and skill set go together. without the skills; an items list does no good. with the skills you can decide for yourself depending on where you'd live. (maybe a traditional house or cabin by hand is not the best for a 1 man show)

It's impossible or very nearly so to start any long term risky venture without the common grub steak.

Well if we're talking staying in a fixed location for years and not having to carry it all in on my back then I'd bring:

1. Felling axe, splitting maul and splitting wedges
2. Buck saw (with lots of extra blades)
3. Knives of varying lengths
4. Chisels & gouges of different sizes
5. Draw knife
6. Files & whetstones
7. Wood stove
8. Canoe
9. Snow shoes
10. Sled (for pulling things not for riding lol)
11. Rifle & shotgun (along with plenty of ammo)
12. Shovel
13. Very large box of matches (and flint and steel as backup)
14. Variety of pots, pans and other cooking implements
15. Wool blankets (and a pillow, I mean why not?)
16. Mason jars
17. All sorts of clothes
18. A bucket (could be useful)
19. Fishing gear
20. Traps and snares
21. Another person (preferably female :p)

I think that would cover the basics, shelter (I'd build a cabin), fire, water, food, along with some things to make life easier.

Oh and some skill would be handy too.

Honestly, I think all I would take is my camping gear except with a more comprehensive fishing and trapping kit. Add a rifle with lots of ammo to that, and I'm set.

I'd probably carry a larger axe than the one I take camping, too. I'd add 10" to the handle, and a couple lbs to the head. That and a supply of nails.

I like to be able to carry everything on my back, so I'd keep it pretty simple. Even long term living, I doubt I'd want to stay in the same spot for very long.

I don't have a list but the axe and saw would be very important to me. For a saw, my first choice would be about a 48" crosscut with an auxiliary top handle and a complete maintenance/sharpening kit. Second choice would be (as noted above) something like a 36" bow saw with a lot of spare blades.

And I'd want to bring a girlfriend, unlike Proeneke!

I really like that pack Bryan. It's one of the classiest looking packs I've seen in some time. In fact, I would say, the person carrying it would have a high likelihood of being a gentleman or a knight. Sir Breeden, I dig your style.

That link was very interesting and informative....I'm jealous of their four years in the bush (because of bush :p).

I haven't seen "petite brunette" on any survival lists.

They're even sexier looking whilst driving lifted diesel F250's [full of survival gear]!

As much equipment and food supplies as you can !

To actually live in the wild is a totally different concept to camping.

Tools, tools and more tools.....Axes, hammers, fencing pliers, screws, nails, prybars, a small anvil and blacksmithing tools, an Ice Auger, saws....etc,etc...the list is restricted only by how you can move the gear.

Same with food rations; Dried beans, rice, oats, etc and then there are seeds to plant for crops.

Other items like tarps etc, fencing wire, ropes, blocks and tackle maybe even small chainblocks, buckets, cook pots.

As many traps and snares as you can along with fishing gear.

To try and take everything on one trip to live somewhere such as where he did would be virtually impossible.
