So my last knife I picked up was an Umnumzaan and it's pretty amazing and it's making me want a sebenza....my bank account is crying right now...

So what I'm asking of you guys and gals is if you could post some pictures of your sebenza and tell me a few things you like and then a few things you dislike, or would like to see improved on your knife (only on your knife). This way I can get a good look at a bunch of different styles, and see which one I want in my pocket :D

I have some complaints about the Sebenza after a couple years of use

- Lockup is too solid. It locks up with no blade play and is completely solid in every way possible.
- Too sharp. It can cut stuff too easily
- Too easy to maintain. Only takes a few minutes to take apart and reassemble
- Size is too perfect. I can't even feel it in my pocket.
- Stonewash finish is too good. It hides scratches too well so the blade looks brand new even after a lot of use.
- Too simple looking. The Sebenza doesn't look gaudy or tacky enough.
- Warranty is too good. The lifetime warranty is too long.

I like my other knives like the BM710, Spyderco Military, Emersons etc. But I always come back to the Sebenza. It's just too reliable.

I'm with you, Mongomondo.

Chief complaint with the Sebenza: The Seb's perfection actually makes me feel inadequate in many ways.

At times, I think I really need to be carrying something more along the lines of a Frost Cutlery fantasy folder, but I cannot seem to rotate out my small Regular Seb of its EDC role after nine solid years of carry.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to make do and go on aspiring to be more.

C'est la vi, or something.

Professor.

Hahaha  There's gotta be something you wish was a little better, nothing is perfect.

Finding the small Regular Seb and making it my EDC was the culmination of many years of trying everything else. Like the number dial on one of those electronic combination safe-crackers, it took a long time for the numbers to settle on the Seb (that, and a gentle nudge from a friend years ago). The numbers are still running on a fixed blade, however...

Of course it's just opinion, but to me it truly is perfect. I think sometimes tastes can conform to what you're used to, and this is probaby true too of the Seb. When I first started carrying them, I probably thought, wow, the thumblug's too small, or the action is tight, or something along those lines. But nine years of carry and use have bonded flesh to titanium and steel.

The only worry I've ever had with Seb's is one day wearing the lock out, but I've yet to do it. Not even close. So, until that happens or it suffers some catastrophic failure, it will remain my EDC.

Dislikes?...........Oh I've got one, having to explain to people why anyone would pay over $300.00 for a knife when you can get one at the gas station that cost $8.95 and it will cut stuff too.

Don,t have a recent pic, but Ill share my feelings:

Likes:
its cutting ability
lock up
Pivot bushing
Aesthetics: looks simple and clean--not lots of text on it
Easy to sharpen (i use the sandpaper method and find it super easy to keep shaving sharp)

Dislikes:
Wish they were cheaper--be awesome to be able to afford some variety :). However, I totally found the knife worth the cost.

Yeah, thats all I got for dislikes, sorry:)

@ shooter81: I laughed when I saw one of your photos. While reading this post I am enjoying a Balvenie Doublewood. A fine drink.

I have been on and off with the Sebenza for some time now, but I have realized that there is no other knife that suits my needs better than this one. In fact I am currently in the process of liquidating my knife collection to buy ore CRKs. Just acquired a beautiful Mnandi today and I am looking at a Nyala next.

And here's a pic.

My last purchase, a Lg. Sebenza Insingo.

Insingo translated means "razor", and this thing truly is. This is a tough as nails slicer. It shares pocket time with an SnG, but I reach for the Insingo when I need a thin slicer type knife.

the thumbstud takes some getting used to, but thats about it IMO.

here is my small regular

The only thing I can find to complain about it the thumb studs, but only on the smaller models. The larges are perfect in every way, and I do love my small Sebenza's as well, but after a while, the thumb stud will cause the tip of my thumb to crack open painfully. Here's a crappy cell phone pic of my Mammoth Ivory Collection. This cell phone camera really doesn't do them justice though!

Sweet trio, Brad!!! Now I know why you inquired about the Small Ivory -- going for two pair!! You certainly have the right idea, my friend.

Mine with double lugs is enroute. This one will be seeing lots of belt pouch time.

Nice pics too.

BUSTED!!! I guess you figured me out!! I would love to have a small classic ivory. Thank You for the kind words. It means a lot coming from someone with such a nice collection himself. One of these days that knife will be mine. I look forward to that day. (wishful thinking)

A couple of my favorites. I daily carry one or the other. Mostly the Insaneo...
