I am going to order a shrike in the next month or so and am trying to decide what color I want. You guys have any pictures of your shrikes in the wild?

OK! I'll take the bait. There are two species of Shrikes up here and both are predatory birds; Northern Shrike and Loggerhead Shrike. Both are Robin-sized and neither are endowed with strength, talons nor fearsome beaks associated with a 'formidable killer' but they are consummate hunters and store their prey (reptiles/mice/birds/insects) by impaling them upon Hawthorne tree spikes.
Does this help to describe the 'whatever gizmo' that you are seeking?

It does, but what colors are the demons you speak of

I assume that you guys are joking and actually know what a Shrike tomahawk is.:p I am a bit curious as to where people actually talk about these tactical/full tang hawks as the discussions in here are more like what I would expect on the bushcraft forum in that they are mostly about tractional axes, hatchets, etc.

This is true, but it was the only place I thought the topic fit. I guess that's why it's had a pretty slow start

Tnev, thanks for sharing the pictures. It looks like your shrike has quite a bit of wear on it. How do you like it?

Not to jack this thread or steer off topic, but what is the knife in the pic tnev posted? Me likes...

Well just to throw some more ideas at you! But how about a winkler or even a swamp rat KDSH? I got convinced by Snakebreaker to get a KDSH but it didn't take much convincing and it's a mighty fine hawk and will do anything you ask of it and it's pretty cheap if you grab one off the exchange and I know knifehunter had one just like mine posted. Just trying to add to your confusion...lol! Oh! And there is the blackjack lite hawk that I have that I like alot and would mount nicely to your vest I bet!

So wait, a shrike is a tomahawk with a spike on the back instead of a hammer head? Like this?:

If that's the case, the only one I have is the Benchmade Killian, but I don't have any pics.

The Shrike is a specific model of tomahawk made by RMJ Tactical.

I don't have any pics of it in use in the woods, just some vid of screwing around with it a bit.

It's a lot of fun to use and has made a great all around general purpose hawk. Sure there are better Hawks for specific tasks but I've found that the Shrike makes a tremendously useful jack of all trades hawk that is just about indestructible.

Here's a few of my S13 Shrike. It now pulls full duty at work and the Jenny Wren is my field hawk.
Great Tomahawk-mines black. Probably would have gone with camo but I got a good deal from a friend.
