Really? No one has a shrike to show off?
OK! I'll take the bait. There are two species of Shrikes up here and both are predatory birds; Northern Shrike and Loggerhead Shrike. Both are Robin-sized and neither are endowed with strength, talons nor fearsome beaks associated with a 'formidable killer' but they are consummate hunters and store their prey (reptiles/mice/birds/insects) by impaling them upon Hawthorne tree spikes.
Does this help to describe the 'whatever gizmo' that you are seeking?
I assume that you guys are joking and actually know what a Shrike tomahawk is.I am a bit curious as to where people actually talk about these tactical/full tang hawks as the discussions in here are more like what I would expect on the bushcraft forum in that they are mostly about tractional axes, hatchets, etc.
...and store their prey (reptiles/mice/birds/insects) by impaling them upon Hawthorne tree spikes.
Not to jack this thread or steer off topic, but what is the knife in the pic tnev posted? Me likes...
I was kind of wondering the same thing...Medford maybe?
So wait, a shrike is a tomahawk with a spike on the back instead of a hammer head? Like this?:

If that's the case, the only one I have is the Benchmade Killian, but I don't have any pics.
